Anime, to me when I first got introduced to it was some sort of escape from the reality i’m sometimes faced with because of so many things, from their expression to body language and so many relatable things I wished I was but as time went on, I got a different reason for watching anime, not because I outgrew the other but I got another perspective towards what I watch.
If I were to compare my love for anime and movies on a scale from 1 – 10, 8 goes to anime and 4 goes to movies not because anime seems to have more fantasy fictional capabilities than movie but because most of the time the story, plot, suspense and so on are just so amazing that I sometimes wish a particular anime series doesn’t end(but it does anyway).
So in this post i’m gonna share with you my top 10 favorite anime series that I have watched and loved and has really great impact on me so please stick around and read till end :
10. Chivalry of a Failed Knight
Chivalry of a Failed Knight was introduced to me of least recent, about last year May, and I have to admit when I first started the series I wasn’t expecting anything serious or worthwhile to come from this anime other than the usual sword- action but I got surprised just within the first episode.
Ikki Kurogane was termed as the “The worst one” in a school of magical knights with a score of “F”. Literally all his colleagues have higher grade than he does and even his family treated him with disgust because of his supposed lack of magical ability but little did they know that a score of “F” doesn’t define his magical abilities, nor his potential and many have fallen victim to this general grading and has resulted to them falling by his hands, even the foreign princess: Stella Vermillion with a score of “A” still doesn’t match Ikki’s full potential.
Chivalry of a Failed Knight is about a certain guy who found himself trapped in a system/path that wasn’t designed for him and so he lost a lot just because of it, then he goes ahead and forges his own path where he is superior to many others while encountering many obstacles along the way.
One of the things I have learnt from this anime is “Even though the system wasn’t designed for you or no matter how impossible it might seem to succeed, with a lot of effort(and I mean a whole lot) you can break the system or can pull through with the right mindset and the right resolve”,
9. Hitori No Shita(The Outcast)
Hitori No Shita started off pretty decent, with great promise for something big coming later on and I decided to stick with it for a while and I gotta say, it’s really worth the time if only you are patient enough to watch past all the flashbacks and also trying to keep up with every little detail or else one could get lost trying to understand the story.
Hitori no shita is a collaboration chinese/japanese anime series that has aired for a long time from July 9 to September 24, 2016. A second season aired from January 16 to June 26, 2018.
Chou Soran was a normal college student until he gets caught up in a terrible incident in a small village while visiting his grandfather’s grave. While walking through the graveyard to pay a visit to his deceased grandfather, Soran is assaulted by a horde of zombies but was later assisted by a strange girl with knife. After successfully fending of the zombies, he later finds out that the girl’s name is Fu Hohou and from that point on, his life began to make a big change, from joining a martial art organization to being kidnapped by other martial art organization , then being challenged by other martial art organization all from one problem to the other solely because of a technique that was supposedly taught to him by his grandfather known as Kitaigen. The story continues with Soran’s attempt to find out his grandfather true history and the connection the strange girl Fu hohou.
I got to understand better through this anime that “Although expectations might have been placed on you regardless of your resolve but it’s still up to you to decide what to do with it, to either favor those who place it on you so you could live the life they want or be yourself all through the way, not giving a thought what it will do for others”.
8. Megalo Box
Megalo Box started off really well, I mean the title does sound kinda catchy so let’s say yeah I actually had expectations and trust me when I say this anime is really worth every second of time you spend on it, although it’s not the usual sword-action and fantasy and magical stuffs, it’s basically real life boxing embedded with a little technology.
Megalo box is a competition held yearly to sharpen boxers with ultimate gears to reach the top by fighting with different boxers from around the world.
Joe started out as a regular day to day boxing champion in the ring but with lots of potential for something bigger, a genuine article. The story goes as Joe goes for a ride in the evening as he accidentally almost hit a lady who happens to be accompanied by the Best Megalo Boxing champion of all time: Yuri , then the two almost got into a fight when Yuri got stopped by his company then the two boxers, the hood champion and the federal champion promised each other to fight each other for real in the stage.
Just imagine this ” A man wakes up one morning and decides to box a robot/cyborg”, well that’s similar to how this story goes, as gear-less Joe goes to the world of megalo box without a gear against multiple opponents with different enhancements, he struggles to reach the top to keep his promise to Yuri and he does the same too.
This guy’s way of boxing is what we call orthodox and as weird as it might be, he conquered all his opponents and still earned the respect and fame of almost everyone just for being himself, doing what he loves.
7. Skip Beat!
Skip Beat is that anime where you watch the first 10 minutes and then you just decide to delete it all because it’s lame and doesn’t seem like it has potential but that’s where you are wrong. Of all the anime’s I have watched, Skip beat is the one anime where everything about it down to the last detail is realistic, I mean this anime barely has any fantasy or fictional elements but still if you take your time to watch a few episodes at first, trust me you’ll wish it doesn’t end.
Skip beat is a really enjoyable and satisfying anime series, the story goes as a young girl: Kyoko Mogami travels miles to support her childhood friend and crush: Shoutarou Fuwa in his career as an actor. From a loving and highly supporting childhood friend to a vengeful competitor in show biz as Fuwa breaks Kyoko’s heart after she realizing that she was nothing more than a maid to her from the start. As Kyoko steps into the world of show-biz for the first she soon realizes that it’s no joke and a lot of effort will be required to get to her goal and as the story goes she soon discovers that she has a unique talent for acting but that doesn’t mean she won’t have to face challenges every step of the way.
Skip beat is wonderful blend of comedy and drama with constantly evolving characters and story that portrays the realistic world of show-biz.
6. Rise of The Shield Hero
Rise of Shield Her is not your regular anime where you see four heroes taking the responsibility to rid a kingdom of it’s threats and maintain peace rather, it starts off in a modern day setting where all seems so normal till the protagonist Naofumi decided to visit the library to get a book only for him to get sucked in the book that led him to a medieval kingdom. On getting there he found out that he was summoned to rid the kingdom of it’s enemies(without permission of course). Naofumi was given the hnonor of being the shield hero along with three other heroes with their respective weapons.
The anime started off pretty well until Naofumi got betrayed by his comrade who turns out to be the princess of the kingdom and only for him to later find out in the series that the king has a certain grudge for whoever bears the shield. From time to time, people have shown naofumi disgust, hate, contempt, ungratefulness and so many other negative emotions for no particular reason but naofumi doesn’t let any of these things stop him from achieving his goal: To end all coming waves and give peace to the kingdom all so he can leave back home.
Naofumi really put up a lot of courage and tolerance when dealing with people, of all characters in the anime he seemed to be the only one that suffered the most yet he still continues on his quest to help everyone who has done him wrong(pretty noble for the main character right).
5.Classroom Of The Elite
Classroom of the elite is kinda what we call a regular day to day highschool life being portrayed in animations but it’s also a bit more than that, although the suspense this particular anime stopped at was really annoying, I mean why on earth does this anime not have a second season?. Fans have waited and waited for years to receive a second season even though most of us know we won’t get one.
Moving on, classroom of the elite’s main character, Ayanokoji Kiyokata is not just what anyone would call an intelligent student but graciously gifted person in so many ways, the anime starts off with a question “Are human beings truly equal ?”. Using a pretentious question is a fast way to both grab the attention of the inexperienced viewer and to introduce the general intentions of the show. However, questioning the equality of the human is a comical idea.
In Society are humans really treated equally or are they treated according to the standards in society ?, well that’s what this anime series is mostly focused on as students apply to attend an elite school where the class you will placed in is dependent on your abilities not just academic, but also in your psychology and that’s where the problem comes in for young Ayanokoji.
When it comes to classroom animes, Classroom of the elite is my favorite for so many reasons I will not list yet but in later posts, so please do stay tuned.
4. Goblin Slayer
What’s the first thing you think of when someone says “Goblin Slayer” ?, a powerful character with hatred for the goblin race and anything pertaining to them right?. Well that’s what this anime is partially about if not fully.
When I watched the first episode of this anime, to be honest, I was intrigued but at the same time disappointed because when I hear of goblins, the first thing that pops to my mind is “a scary little goblin with ancient powers capable of cunning even the smartest humans, though I could be wrong about that”, but all I saw was a knight in an armor(definitely not shining) swinging around his sword and daggers killing any goblins that he sees and fortunately for me, I don’t put all my judgements into first impressions, so I went ahead watching a second, third, fourth, fifth and before I knew it I was already addicted to this anime because of three reasons.
- Solid Backstory : He isn’t just going out finding goblins and killing them
just for the fun of it, he has a solid backstory filled with pain, loss and hate that drives him into doing what he does and that is something I for one can work with.
- Character Development
- Amazing Startegies
In conclusion, goblin slayer is an anime where anyone would love if you really do love animes, there is always something to keep going through every episode, I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
3. Code Geass
There isn’t much to say about Code Geass except for the fact that it’s one of the best anime series I have ever watched in the history of Best anime series I have ever watched.
Code geass has a lot to offer when it’s filled with so much action, amazing dialogue, and has such breath-taking visuals that it tops the charts in entertainment value(well, used to). This is an exciting and epic anime and it’s over the top for me and I doubt there are lot of people who disagrees with this fact.
For some people, the plot, characters, the character design could make the show unlikeable. For others, the high action, flashy animation, and drama will be more than enough to make the show a favorite of all time though I like everything about Code Geass especially when it comes to his unparalleled intelligence.
2. Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer turns out to be one of the most fascinating and enjoyable anime series out there from the tactical sword-fighting strategies down to the amazing character development in the past few years and it has been a very exciting addition to my personal anime playlist.
Tanjiro’s journey aligns himself with two amusing characters, Zenitsu and Inosuke, the two fellow fighters bonded as time went on and they all went on their journeys together sharing similar experiences fighting demons and honing their skills to the limit. They also tend to be very funny and amusing characters with their weird sense of humor which helps to balance out the anime’s melodramatic moment.
Demon Slayer is the kind of anime that doesn’t go all out in the beginning, showing off the characters abilities making them OP but rather takes them through different harsh hurdles, growing their abilities, learning new skills and giving them time to breathe and not rushing the characters from one battle to the next. In fact many of the battles are spread out through many episode than a need to resolve each fight immediately the credits roll. Demon Slayer is very much concerned about the characterization of both the characters and the demons themselves that you eventually get to find out that not all demons are actually bad but we’re even forced to be, so when battles arise they tend to have more meaning behind them.
There is no mistake that this anime is the top 2nd on my list and you could go check out my review on Demon Slayer to know more.
1. Naruto Anime Series
The Naruto series, pretty much the one anime you would hear in most people’s lips, even non anime fans know of this particular anime, this is not just my number one anime, but also the anime that introduced me to the anime world, for some people it’s like the 4th they have seen and I feel bad for them because naruto not only serves as home where you could go back to but also a kind of fuel that keeps you running no matter how far you might have fallen from the anime world, it’s always there to bring you back.
For an Otaku like me, I grew up watching the naruto series, I remember running home from school after closing hours just to watch naruto back when I was a kid, everyday that love and passion kept on growing because of the wonderful elements this particular anime has.
There is lot to say on this particular anime but I’m going to end it on this note, to those who haven’t watched naruto yet and are pretty much interested in it, I suggest you go here to find out it’s episodes in order and where to get it from.
So that’s a wrap on My Top 10 Favorite Animes so far, I hope you like it and got a few things, so please give a like and your comment will be appreciated.
